Former Dragon Band Member Gets Grammy Nomination

[Article from Southlake Carroll ISD School eNews Online - January 28 Edition]

This year's Grammy Awards includes the nomination of Carroll ISD alumni, Brian Clancy. The 21-year-old plays saxophone for the University of North Texas One O'Clock Lab Band. The group was nominated for a Grammy for Best Large Jazz Ensemble.
Clancy is a 2007 Carroll graduate. As a member of the Dragon Band, Clancy won all-state his junior and senior years. In addition to the sax, Clancy also plays the clarinet, drums, flute and piano. Dragon Band Director Ron Behrends remembered Brian as a student, "He was all about getting the job done and doing it right. He stayed very calm and even tempered, but his practice was always diligent and thorough. Those of us at Carroll High School know how deserving he is of any recognition as part of the famous One O'Clock Lab Band."

Currently, Clancy and the Lab Band are on tour in California and will attend the Grammy Awards Sunday, Jan. 31. The event airs live at 7 p.m. on CBS. While the group isn't expected to be included in the broadcast, the Carroll ISD Communications and Marketing Department is working on a video feature to be posted on the district's website.
