I'm new to Carroll ISD. How do I join the Dragon Band?
High school students moving into CISD (whether over the summer or mid-year) who are interested in joining the Carroll Dragon Band, should have a parent or guardian contact one of our Directors as soon as possible. Director contact links are available here. Welcome!
Please note: Students must enroll with Carroll ISD before they may be considered for membership in the Dragon Band. New student enrollment information may be found at this page on the Carroll ISD website.
What are the concert ensembles? How do I know which class to enroll in while working out my class schedule?
The ensembles are: Concert Band, Symphonic Winds/White, Symphonic Winds/Green, Wind Ensemble, and Wind Symphony. Placement in the concert ensembles is based upon auditions held in late Spring for the following school year. Students of any class year are eligible for placement in any ensemble, based on their audition performance.
When registering for classes in the following year, students simply include "concert band" at time of registration. School counselors show student schedules as "pending" until audition results are posted, usually in early May. At that time, other student course selections and band schedules are reconciled. Should any conflict arise between course selections, school counselors will work with the band directors and the student to determine the best schedule for that student.
Students new to Carroll ISD who did not audition in the Spring may request an audition by contacting Ken Johnson, Director of Bands. Mr. Johnson's contact information may be found here.
How can I join the Carroll Band Booster Club?
All parents of Dragon Band students are, by definition, members of the Carroll Band Booster Club. When your child joins the Dragon Band, you become a de facto member of the Band Boosters. But merely being a member "by association" isn't what the Band Boosters are all about ... what the Boosters need is every parent's active participation in this vibrant, busy, challenging and rewarding volunteer program.
