Playoff Game Information
Dragon Band Families,
Below is important information regarding Dragon Football playoffs. The Dragon Band travels to all playoff games, which are set up in a “win or go home” format; if we win one game, we advance to the next, or if we lose a game, then we are done playing. The first round of playoffs is this Friday (starting with 64 teams), and the State Championship Game, should we advance that far, is Saturday, December 18th.
All JV and Varsity Dragon Band members are expected to perform in the spirit halftime show “LIDS”. LIDS is a crowd favorite that has been a tradition for over 15 years. The show is designed in such a way as to allow for flexibility of membership, since we know that November and December often include planned family travel. As long as your child is in attendance at the one rehearsal prior to the performance (usually the day of the game) then they may perform in the halftime show. If they are unable to attend the rehearsal they may still attend the game, but they will not participate during halftime.
We ask that you be proactive with your communication regarding any anticipated absences, so that we may plan accordingly. We will not know from week to week whether a game will land on a Friday or Saturday, until the completion of the game being played. The time, date, and location of a next-round game is determined between coaches and Athletic Directors from each team, and is announced at the conclusion of the game being played.
Should we win our first playoff game Friday, then our potential opponent would either be Midland Legacy or El Paso Pebble Hills. The location of Round 2 could be at a neutral site (ex. Arlington Globe Life Park, Abilene, etc.) or using a “home and home” scenario - meaning one school travels to the other team’s home and then reverses the location should they meet again in a future year. (This scenario could play out in Round 3, if we play Arlington Martin).
