Dear Dragon Band Families,

The TMEA All-Region/All-State Band experience is a fantastic opportunity for your child to showcase his or her talents and compete with some of the best musicians in our region. Through individual competition, our entire program improves. Many students will be taking part in this event with the goal of placing into one of the four All-Region bands, and possibly advancing to the All-State band, which is an honor bestowed upon the best of the best!

 

The auditions, consisting of three prepared etudes, will take place the first week of December. Woodwinds will have Phase I on Tuesday, December 3rd, and brass and percussion will have Phase 1 on Wednesday, December 4th. Students who place in the top of their section in Phase I will advance to the Phase 2 auditions on Saturday, December 7th. All auditions are held at Coppell H.S. 

 

** 9th grade students will have the option to do the “6A-track”, which are the phased auditions listed above, competing against grades 9-12, or doing 9th-grade only auditions on Saturday, December 7th. **

 

(9th graders making a 6A band would not perform with the 9th grade All-Region band.)

 

As discussed throughout the semester, All Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble members will be auditioning. Symphonic Winds Green and White Band members are encouraged to audition, as long as they have played for a director(s) prior to the auditions.

 

As part of the requirement to audition is the expectation that if selected, band members will attend all portions of the clinic/concert on January 17th/18th. The general time frame is Friday evening from 5:30-9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., with the concerts to follow.
